Computers and Writing Online 2001 sessions will take place on the MOO Connections, except where the point of the presentation involves visiting another online forum.
For an idea of what these sessions might be like, see the CW Online 1999 session logs.
So that even those with no experience using a MOO may present at Computers and Writing Online 2001, we offer these resources:
- Connections's home page offers tutorials for new MOOers
- We will offer practice sessions for presenters during the months
before the C&W Online 2001 conference begins. These sessions will be
held in Connections.
March 20, 12 noon to 1 pm
March 21, 7 to 8 pm
March 22, 2 to 3 pm
April 3, 4 to 5 pm
C&W Online 2001 attendees and presenters with little or no MOO
experience should plan to attend one of our informal orientations.
In hour-long sessions on Connections, long-time MOO users will
help new users learn to speak, move around the moo, and
troubleshoot common problems.
- Each presenter or group of presenters will be assigned a volunteer MOO helper. Your helper will be someone who is experienced with using a MOO for group discussions and presentations and will be able to help you learn to use a MOO, plan your session, and attend your session in order to take care of attendees who need MOO assistance.
- For encouragement, take a look at the log from Mary Ellen Nourse's CW Online 1999 presentation. Dr. Nourse was a brand new MOO user; she was CW Online 1999's very first presenter, and the discussion she led was one of the highlights of the conference--attendees talked about it for a long time afterward!
