Save many versions
It is very important that you save your images many times while you work on them. It is also crucial that you save different versions of your images, because some processes change your image permanently. The Gimp only saves "Undo" during the current session, so your image is stuck as it is when you quit the program. That's why it's important to save your image in several stages.

You can delete the extra instances of your image once you have the image the way you like it.
