The NWE consists of six different labs. Because our terminals are upgraded on a rotating basis, the room setups are not identical.

There are two different types of keyboards used in the NWE. The first, which you are more likely to be familiar with, is the standard "IBM" keyboard. (On old Xterms: 114, 314, 315)

  • The tilde key is on the left, at the top.
  • The Back Space, at right, is on the top row.
  • The Control key is in the lower left corner.
  • The Caps Lock key is just above the left Shift key.

The other keyboard available in the NWE is the SUN keyboard, attached to the SUN RAY terminals. This keyboard has a slightly different setup than the standard IBM keyboard (above). (On Sun Rays: 105, 115)

  • The tilde key is on the right, at the top.
  • Just under the tilde is the Back Space, one row lower than usual.
  • The Control key is is just above the left Shift key.
  • The Caps Lock key in the lower left corner.
