At the end of each semester, when student accounts and classlists are removed, we erase the email archives for those classes. Some instructors like to save their archives for use when they go on the market or in future pedagogy.

To archive your mailing list, open an NWE shell and type:

listarchive

Then, enter the list, eg. f04-1234 if you teach section 1234 in Fall 2004.
