If you are a new student at the University of Florida, you can't escape the great leap forward toward a networked-computer-centric university experience. With UF's student computer requirement, all undergraduate students must have access to Internet-ready computers. But just because some administrator decided that you needed a computer to be able to graduate from UF doesn't mean that the university is going to make it easy for you to use your computer to get your work done.
As a student taking a class in one of the Rolfs Hall NWE classrooms, you'll be expected to work through three different levels of computing services: the NWE, UF's campus wide network, and the Internet. The following documents should help you to begin to understand the differences.
- The NWE:: What the Networked Writing Environment provides to you
- Campus computer resources:: What's available to you on campus
- The Internet:: How the Internet relates to all this
- Working from home:: Getting started working from home
- CLAS advice:: CLASnet's page on the College and student computers
