NWE Help: Printing: Paper Jams

NWE Home :: Help :: Printing

The NWE printers are heavy-duty workgroup models, but they do jam occasionally.

When a printer jams, DO NOT try to clear the jammed paper from the printer. Go to Rolfs 111, 113, or 115 and see if a member of the NWE staff is available. He or she will help you clear up the problem. If no one is available, contact the NWE help staff, and use a printer in a different classroom. If you must print something immediately CIRCA laser printers can be used.

Printer jams must be cleared carefully by trained staff. It is very easy to permanently damage the printer and/or the toner cartridge by uncarefully disassembling a printer. Any student who attempts to clear a paper jam runs the risk of losing NWE access privileges.

We don't mind if you fill the printers with paper if they run out, but we'd rather have our assistants or your instructor handle that. If you do refill a printer, note: each printer can hold an entire ream of paper. Make sure to load the paper straight and push the tray all the way back in the printer.

Help prevent jams by using only the paper we provide, and always asking for assistance if you suspect a problem.
