NWE Help: Remote

NWE Home :: Help :: Remote

Whenever you use email, ftp, or even downloading files, you are accessing information stored on remote servers. That is, the files you access are not stored on your computer, but are made accessible to you through the internet. In much the same way, you can access much of the NWE's resources from your home or dorm room. While you won't have access to much of the software available in the classrooms, you can still send files, access your email, and use any software available through the shell. In the case that you have a problem connecting, come to the lab and get your work done.

In most cases, since NWE classes don't require it, the NWE staff can't help you with remote access to the NWE.

Accessing your Web pages or other NWE web pages from other locations should be no problem. Just point a browser to http://web.nwe.ufl.edu/writing/ to see the NWE home page, or http://web.nwe.ufl.edu/~username/ to see username's home page.
