We've already stated that ftp has two parts: the client and the server. We've got an ftp server running on ftp.nwe.ufl.edu. Now you need to pick and install a client, and you'll be ready to start.
Generally speaking, one choice stands out for each platform. Select one of those choices to see help for that program. The programs we mention here should be on the UF CD.
| platform | client |
|---|---|
| DOS | ftp |
| MacOS | Fetch |
| Unix | ftp |
| Windows | ws_ftp |
You can also look for a client on download.com, shareware.com, or freshmeat.net.
If clients don't interest you, or you've already picked one, proceed to our notes page.
