NWE Help: StarOffice: Introduction

StarOffice is a package of programs from Sun Microsystems, the same company that makes the servers we use here at the NWE. StarOffice has a word processing program, a spreadsheet program, a presentation maker, and even an HTML editor. It is very similar to the word processing programs you are probably familiar with, and should be relatively easy to use.

To start StarOffice, simply click the NWE menu at the bottom left of your screen, or right click on the desktop. Choose "StarOffice" from the menu that pops up.

You can learn more about StarOffice by visiting Sun's StarOffice website. There is also a link from which you can also download the program and use it on your Windows PC at home. You can also order the program for $40 if you don't want to spend the large amount of time that the download will require. For Mac users, OpenOffice is available and it was built from StarOffice, so the buttons and functionality are the same.
