NWE Help: Web: Authoring: HTML: Special Characters

NWE Home :: Help :: Web :: Authoring :: HTML

Because there are so many different font standards, the following equivalents should be used when you want to add special characters to your HTML documents. Find the character you want, then type the special code as it appears in the second or third column. You can use either numerical code or letter codes --they should behave identically.

If you are using the asWe HTML editor, you can select special characters from the "Entities" menu in the "Markup" menu. The appropriate code will be inserted.

The four entities most often used:

appearance letter code numerical code explanation
""" quotation mark, apl quote
&&& ampersand
<<< less-than sign
>>> greater-than sign
