NWE Home :: Help :: Web :: Authoring :: Tutorial
Now you will add links to some of Ally Gator's favorite websites. Follow these steps to add links to your home page.
Highlight the text you wish to attatch the link to. To make the first line of text into a link to the UF home page, Highlight "UF's Homepage"
- Once you have highlighted the text, click on the
hyperlink button which is the third from the end in the
second row of the toolbar.
The Hyperlink dialog box will appear:
- In the Link destination field, type the full URL of the
web site as shown:
http://www.ufl.edu
Click OK. Your page should now be linked to the UF Homepage. Save and preview it to be sure.
To add the rest of the links, repeat the process above, typing in the full URLs (web addresses) for each specific site. Here are the URLs for the other websites on Ally Gator's Web page:
- Sister Hazel = http://www.sisterhazel.com
- Gator Athletics = http://www.uaa.ufl.edu
- Ally Gator's Web Page Authoring Tutorial = http://www.nwe.ufl.edu/writing/help/web/authoring/tutorial/
The link on Ally Gator's page that says "Email Me" links the user of the page to an email address instead of a URL. You may be asked to include a link to your email on your web page. Follow the steps below to add a link to your email.
NOTE: The configuration of the NWE and Netscape Communicator in the NWE labs will not allow you to use an email link from a web page. However, the email link may work for users outside the NWE.
Highlight the text you wish to use to link to your email.
Click the Hyperlink button.
When the Link dialog box comes up, type the following:
mailto:username@nwe.ufl.edu
in the Link destination field.Click OK. Users can now clik the "Email me" link to send you an email from your web page.
Now that you have added links to your page, you are almost done recreating Ally Gator's page. In the next part of the tutorial, you will learn how to add color to your page.
