Welcome to the Ally Gator's Web Page Authoring Tutorial. This tutorial will take you step by step through the process of creating a web page. To teach you the basics of web authoring, we have created a web page which you may replicate. This tutorial will help you learn many of the elements available for making web pages in the Networked Writing Environment (NWE). We have made a sample version of the tutorial page, called Ally Gator's home page. Feel free to leave it open as you work.

This tutorial is designed for students at the University of Florida who are familiar with computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, yet have little or no experience creating web pages. Students using this tutorial should be doing so in the NWE labs, or at a computer with full access to the NWE. In order to complete this tutorial, please allow at least 45 minutes.

The skills learned in this tutorial will not only help you complete web assignments, it will also help prepare you for the professional world. You will learn how to start the HTML editor, create an HTML skeleton, create links, and add text, images, and colors. Once you have learned the basics, you can use that knowledge to create an on-line resume or other web documents.

For more detailed information about web authoring, or for help troubleshooting problems, see the NWE web authoring help pages.

NOTE: The colors of the asWe edit display may vary slightly from the images here, but the contents should be the same.
