I am the administrative affairs geek for CLASnet. I started working on unix systems including the NWE and other CLAS servers and training unix admins. I have previously worked for Student Financial Affairs, the NWE (before it joined CLASnet), and the Department of Statistics.
I've branched out to work on purchasing, HR, security (as CLAS unit ISM), and other not-entirely-technical tasks. Because I enjoy CLASnet facilities management, I'm pursuing a graduate degree in the Rinker School of Building Construction. Oh, and I also get to handle asset management (decalled property).
I'm a big Perl user in my work, and I enjoy writing HTML with Perl scripts to fill in the current information. I also like making tables which represent the physical world, though this one went overboard.
I believe in continuing education, both in college courses like my BCN graduate program, and outside training and certification. I've been a member of SAGE and LOPSA system administrators' professional organizations. As part of facilities management, I'm a building emergency coordinator. Emergency planning led to community emergency response team (CERT) training through the Alachua County Emergency Management office, and then to amateur radio and the Alachua County ARES/RACES emergency communication group.
